Peace Silver Dollars

Peace Silver Dollars are very popular coins with both collectors and investors. Peace Dollars were first struck and issued in 1921, replacing the Morgan Dollar that year, and they continued to be minted every year until 1935.

Peace Dollars were minted in Philadelphia, San Francisco and Denver.

These coins are made up of 90% silver. You can determine which mint a Peace Dollar was struck at by looking below O in ONE on the reverse side of the coin just above the tip of the eagle's tail. Philadelphia minted coins have no mint mark. Coins minted in San Francisco display a small letter S. Coins minted in Denver will have a D mint mark.

Values for Peace Silver Dollars vary from around $15 for a common coin to thousands of dollars for rare and high condition examples.

Roman style lettering was used on the coins so that "trust" in the motto on the face of the coin appears as "TRVST". This is as intended and is not an error.

These coins entered circulation not long after the end of World War I at a time when the US entered a time of peace and prosperity. The word "PEACE" is seen near the bottom of the reverse of the coin. That's why these are called Peace Dollars.
